Guernsey has a total of twenty seven beaches/bays so there is something to suit everyone, some are sandy, some are rocky, some are both at various stages of the tide. The following eight beaches won the 2000 Tidy Britain Group's Seaside Award, and fly the yellow & blue flag, which indicate that they are safe, clean & have a high level of water quality.
| Cobo Bay A large sandy beach, on the west coast |
| Fermain Bay On the east coast, and very popular |
| L'Eree Bay (ten minutes walk from Mirus Cottage) One of the largest bays, great for swimming at mid to high tide, with plenty to explore at low tide |
| Pembroke Bay A large sandy bay, with areas of pebbles |
| Petit Bot Bay On the south coast, surrounded by high cliffs |
| Portelet Bay A bay with a small fishing harbour |
| Port Soif Sandy, and on the west coast |
| Vazon Bay On the west coast, sandy, has to be the largest in Guernsey, surfing/windsurfing |
Guernsey is an idyllic location for walkers, you will enjoy the quiet country lanes & scenic south coast cliff walks, where every so often you will come across small coves with their own bay, if you have the energy there is a path all the way from St Peter Port to Pleinmont, a total of approximately 16 miles (25km), be careful the cliffs are hard work, but you can turn inland at many points and get a bus or taxi back to your accommodation, or where you left the car !
The Bailiwick of Guernsey also includes the islands of Alderney, Sark & Herm to which you can take a day trip.
We must warn you that most visitors to Guernsey get hooked, and return many times
